In a chilling escalation of hybrid warfare, credible reports from security sources reveal that India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), under the direct oversight of External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, is orchestrating a fresh “false flag” operation. The strategy is as desperate as it is diabolical; innocent Pakistani detainees which are primarily Kashmiris who inadvertently crossed the Line of Control (LoC), are being consolidated from various Indian jails. The objective is to stage a high profile terrorist incident involving these prisoners, potentially alongside Indian convicts, to provide a veneer of authenticity to a pre packaged narrative of Pakistani infiltration.
The history of Indian strategic deception against Pakistan is defined by a consistent pattern of high stakes incidents timed to coincide with major diplomatic shifts or domestic political needs. This “false flag” doctrine arguably saw a significant modern crystallization during the Chittisinghpura Massacre of 2000, which took place on the eve of U.S. President Bill Clinton’s visit to India. While New Delhi immediately blamed Pakistani backed militants to frame the regional narrative, subsequent independent investigations suggested a staged encounter intended to leverage international sympathy. This template evolved further with the 2019 Pulwama attack; while a tragic security breach, subsequent revelations regarding prior knowledge among the state aligned media figures suggested the event was capitalized upon as a massive election catalyst.
In more recent years, this strategy has transitioned into a sophisticated hybrid of kinetic action and coordinated information campaigns. The 2025 Pahalgam attack, which India used to justify the unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, serves as a primary example of this new doctrine where localized clashes are immediately amplified through digital ecosystems to justify strategic escalations. This evolution reflects a shift from simple staged encounters to “Narrative First” operations. Utilizing these human pawns such as detainees or accidental border crossers, their strategy aims to create a believable face for terrorism that can be sold to a global audience. Bypassing the need for actual evidence in favour of emotional and viral storytelling.
As Pakistan’s diplomatic standing rises, notably its recent role in US- Iran mediation. India appears intent on using these human pawns to malign Pakistan’s image at global stage. The international community must hold New Delhi accountable before this staged theatre triggers any new conflict which the world cannot endure at this juncture.
