Pakistan’s security forces have intensified their counterterrorism campaign in Balochistan under Operation Al-Azm, killing 16 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out across the province.
According to security sources cited by state-run Pakistan Television (PTV), the latest operations targeted members Fitna-al-Hindustan, a term the Pakistani government uses for militant groups that receive support from India. The operations reportedly resulted in the destruction of multiple terrorist hideouts, while security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition and explosive materials.
The latest development comes as Pakistan continues to expand Operation Al-Azm, a nationwide security campaign focused on dismantling terrorist networks through intelligence-led operations rather than large-scale military offensives. The strategy emphasises targeted raids based on actionable intelligence, aiming to eliminate militant infrastructure while limiting disruption to civilian life.
Intelligence-Based Operations Continue
Security officials said the operations were conducted in different parts of Balochistan where militants had established hideouts. Besides neutralising 16 terrorists, forces also destroyed logistical bases used by militant groups.
Authorities stated that the operations will continue until terrorism is eliminated from the province and peace and order are fully restored.
“The security forces will continue intelligence-based operations until terrorism is eradicated from Balochistan,” officials said, reiterating their commitment to maintaining the state’s writ across the province.
Renewed Focus on Balochistan
The operations come a day after the federal and Balochistan governments reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security coordination and accelerating the implementation of a comprehensive peace strategy for the province.
During a high-level meeting, officials declared that there would be “no space for terrorists” in Balochistan and pledged closer cooperation between civilian institutions and security agencies to tackle militancy.
Balochistan has witnessed a series of terrorist attacks in recent years targeting both security personnel and civilians, prompting authorities to intensify intelligence-led operations against militant groups operating in the region.

Operation Al-Azm forms part of Pakistan’s broader effort to counter terrorism through coordinated action involving security forces, intelligence agencies and provincial administrations. Officials say the campaign focuses on disrupting militant networks, dismantling safe havens, preventing future attacks and restoring stability in affected areas.
