Pakistan Draws a Line against Cross-Border Terrorism

The last three days have revealed the true human price of Pakistan’s struggle against terrorism in Baluchistan. Within 48 to 72 hours, through three different military operations, the security agencies took out 54 terrorists, but the casualties were not all one-sided; 42 security personnel martyred during these operations.

In direct reference to this issue, the DG ISPR Ahmad Sharif Chaudary referred to Afghan Taliban, and their patrons, for these cowardly attacks. As per his statement, Afghan Taliban and its master proxy are not happy with the development in Pakistan, particularly Baluchistan province, and in response have provided support to the terrorists in the form of manpower and safe passage, in a bid to keep the province from becoming stable.

The statement by the DG ISPR highlighted the fact that deterrent measures cannot work on Pakistan, and that Pakistan has the capability to retaliate against all those who are responsible for this operation. Additionally, he added that any attack against the children of Pakistan, the police forces, and the soldiers will not be dealt with the principles of rationality and proportionality.

This sentiment was reaffirmed by the Field Marshal Asim Munir that the military is fully aware of the activities of hostile intelligence agencies, and any act of terrorism that comes from outside the borders of Pakistan will be dealt with in the strongest manner possible.

These remarks collectively indicate that the menace of terrorism in Pakistan is considered as a cross border challenge to which a proportional response should be made. Whichever way future events turn out to be, one thing is certain that the leadership in Pakistan cannot tolerate such facilitators only up to a certain extent.
